MISSION:
Our mission is to provide musical, educational, cultural, and language arts programming that reconnect Indigenous people to their heritage by strengthening their sense of belonging and significance as a people.

WHAT WE DO:
Native American Music.  First Nations Music.  Indigenous Music.  International Tribal Music.  We support and honor all indigenous peoples and the art that binds us – music.  Daybreak Star Radio is not tied to one genre of music.  Playing everything from traditional drums, Pow Wow, Native flute, and rattles to R&B, Hip Hop, Rock & Roll, Metal, Funk, and more.  This radio station is for all the Nations and all the music the people produce, write, create, and play.  We will also hold space for those who give respect through study and appreciation of Native instruments.  Our goal is to have 90% Native American (encompassing all the Americas from the Arctic to the Antarctic) music and up to 10% of music from those who specifically support Indigenous causes or have spent significant time learning Native instruments and styles. Native American music continues to thrive and evolve and we intend to provide the platform for established and new artists to showcase their work.  Daybreak Star Radio Network is the station for American Indian and Tribal music!

Daybreak Star Radio Network is powered, supported, and an active program of United Indians of All Tribes Foundation, a Seattle based social service provider, community center, and cultural home for urban Indians.  We are a non-profit and non-commercial streaming radio network under the 501c3 of United Indians (Tax ID 91-0889016). Founded in 1970 at Fort Lawton, United Indians of All Tribes Foundation provides an extensive array of culturally responsive services and programming to Seattle and King County’s urban Native community.  Our headquarters, the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center, was completed in 1977, and has become a hub of activity for Native peoples and their supporters locally, nationally, and internationally.

The STORY that drives us:

Then as I stood there, two men were coming from the east, head first like arrows flying, and between them rose the daybreak star. They came and gave a herb to me and said: “With this on earth you shall undertake anything and do it.” It was the daybreak star herb, the herb of understanding, and they told me to drop it on the earth. I saw it falling far, and when it struck the earth it rooted and grew and flowered, four blossoms on one stem, a blue, a white, a scarlet, and a yellow; and the rays from these streamed upward to the heavens so that all creatures saw it and in no place was there darkness.
